The Albanese and Crisafulli Governments have completed a major upgrade to Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road at Mount Warren Park, delivering a safer, more efficient journey for local residents and road users. The completed project has transformed a busy section of road between Mount Warren Boulevard and Tallagandra Road from two lanes to four, significantly improving traffic flow in both directions, easing congestion and reducing the likelihood of crashes on this important Logan corridor.
The $20 million project was jointly funded by the Australian and Queensland Governments, with each government committing $10 million. Construction began in February last year and was completed this month. In addition to improved travel times, the project has delivered new and upgraded footpaths and shared paths, dedicated on-road bicycle lanes, extensive drainage improvements to boost flood resilience and a new noise barrier on the eastern side of the road for nearby residents.
Federal Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government Catherine King said the completed upgrade would make a real difference for the growing Mount Warren Park and Beenleigh communities. “The completed upgrade will make a real difference delivering a safer and more efficient road network for the growing communities of Mount Warren Park and Beenleigh," Minister King said. “This investment will not only reduce travel times but also improves flood immunity and pedestrian access through better pathways and new on-road bike lanes.”
Queensland Minister for Transport and Main Roads Brent Mickelberg said the completed project demonstrated the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to delivering safer, more reliable roads for local communities. “The completed project demonstrates the Crisafulli Government’s commitment to delivering safer, more reliable roads for local communities," Minister Mickelberg said. “This upgrade has delivered lasting benefits for Mount Warren Park and surrounding areas, with improved safety and reduced congestion, allowing Queenslanders to arrive home safer and sooner. There’s now better traffic flow and reduced travel times for local motorists, improves safety for pedestrians and improves flood resilience.”
Federal Member for Forde Rowan Holzberger said he looks forward to seeing locals benefit from the upgrade. "This investment into Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road benefits commuters in my community every day," Mr Holzberger said. “As Mount Warren Park, Beenleigh, Bahrs Scrub and surrounding areas continue to grow, projects like this ensure people can get where they need to go safely. I commend State Member for Macalister; Melissa McMahon MP whose strong advocacy for her community made this upgrade possible. The Albanese Labor Government is focused on delivering the infrastructure our community needs now and into the future."
Member for Scenic Rim Jon Krause said the completed upgrade was a significant win for the local community. “The completed upgrade was a significant win for the local community," Mr Krause said. “Beaudesert-Beenleigh Road is one of the most important corridors in this part of southeast Queensland, and for too long congestion and safety concerns have frustrated local motorists. This duplication has transformed the road and the difference for local residents, commuters and businesses will be felt every single day. The Crisafulli Government, working with the Albanese Government, is delivering on its commitment to build safer, more reliable roads across southeast Queensland, and this project is proof of that.” |
