Little Women the musical was outstanding! It had me anchored to my chair, with my full attention on the set at all times.
This play was a classic example of a great show. The characters really brought out their true feelings, capturing the true spirit in them. There was nothing to fault. The singing was impeccable, and often deeply emotionally moving.
The cast, band and crew worked impeccably well together. I was fully entertained, and deeply moved myself, and many in the audience as well.
The stage was set up obviously as the attic where Jo would do her writing. It looked cosy, and inviting, a place for the girls to gather, and talk about their days.
Four young girls becoming women through the tough years of the American Civil war was challenging, but they were determined to be strong, and make it together as a sisterhood. The mother lovingly raising them bravely alone while their father was away at war. They each have different paths they want to lead, but adamant they will always stay together.
As the girls mature and grow, Jo March, is driven to becoming an aspiring writer, and determined she wants to make it big, so she can support the family, but gets constant rejections from the publishers. She is also pressured by her Aunt March to follow societies expectations for a young woman. But Jo just wants to follow her own dream.
Amy is a painter. She goes off to travel with her Aunt March to Europe, finding her own destiny.
Meg finally finds her dream husband, having the perfect little family that she always wanted.
Beth always struggled with keeping up with her sisters and mother during these hard times. Then sadly great tragedy hits them all hard when Beth comes down with scarlet fever.
While their mother Marmee found it very difficult to fight her own challenges without her husband near her, missing him so very much, while he is absent at war. She knew it was going to be a hard winter, contemplating having no presents this Christmas.
It was very different to watch Little Woman as a musical, but I can say I was very happy I went to see it.
My compliments to all the creatives, cast, and the band for a successful presentation.
Challenges are always difficult, but with family, and love we can make it through.
I thoroughly enjoyed this performance. Thank you.
